Who we are
Rentsmith Ltd, registered office 1100 Great West Road, London TW8 0GP, is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and our services. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
What we collect
- Landlords: name, contact details, property address and details, right-to-let evidence, identity documents, subscription payment records (processed by Stripe — we never see full card numbers), correspondence.
- Tenants: the details you submit when enquiring on a listing — name, contact details, intended move date, stated employment and income, and your message. These are forwarded to the relevant landlord and summarised by automated systems to help the landlord triage enquiries.
- Everyone: technical data from using this site — pages visited, device type, approximate location from IP address, via cookies and analytics tools disclosed on the site.

Who we share it with
The landlord of the property you enquire about (tenant enquiry data — that is the service); Stripe, to process subscription payments; our email delivery provider, to send the forwards and reminders; our AI provider, to generate enquiry summaries and listing descriptions (content is processed to provide the service, not used to train their models under our agreement); and courts, tribunals or the Property Redress Scheme where a dispute requires it. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
Landlord account data for the duration of the subscription plus 6 years for statutory limitation periods. Tenant enquiry data for 12 months from submission, then deleted. Lead-magnet emails until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Contact hello@rentsmith.co.uk. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count visits in aggregate — no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers. Essential functionality (like the Stripe checkout) may set its own strictly necessary cookies.
